In 2000 the Lexington SCV completed the Lewie Chapel project. The restoration of the cemetery and the erecting of a State Historical Marker for Lewie Chapel (Old Gilbert Methodist Church) and Colonel Lewie. 

On a bitter cold early December Sunday afternoon, members of Camp 51 and the town of Gilbert gathered for the dedication.
